Reviews
Very wide variety of flowers including fresh herbs, reasonable pricing and friendly, helpful staffs. My must go place whenever I am in need of refreshing up my home and office corners.
Visited here after my hiking trail, they got a lot range of fresh cut flowers, checked that buying from there will be a bit cheap for around sgd$2-5 vs order from online, which now sure if still need to add delivery fee. They also selling others plants for indoor and outdoor too. Gardening soil, pots and tools as well. Can see that they got a lot of stock not being organized might be lack of man power.
Disappointed. Good plant selection on website but ordered online a Hindu rope, the single stem had multiple damages and yellowing leaves and it was infested with mealybugs which are super hard to remove from the plant once they appear. Do not recommend
overall a really nice nursery and they are well organised too! the staff there are friendly with tips on keeping plants and gives good advice to people on watering. i think for those plants that are more deemed as “collector” pieces tend to be priced much higher i feel may not be value for money such as alocasia and certain philodendrons
After searching online for olive plants in Singapore I found this nursery had stocks imported from both Japan and Netherlands. The cultivars are quite different and because I wanted one with a long stem and can be pruned, as well as self-pollinating, for the novelty of it, I took a few hours to select the plant, bought the stand and saucer, and some plant care products, paid for it online to benefit from the lower transport fee ($10 instead of $30). The service and attention given me by staff Bee Yian was superb. I was so excited that they delivered the plant a few hours later but after the delivery personnel had left, I noticed there was a fresh scar on the lower part of the stem I had not noticed before. Immediately I notified the nursery and spoke to an office staff who redirected me back to the floor staff. They offered to exchange the plant and asked me to come back to the nursery to choose a replacement. I altered my schedules and went down back the same day, a couple more hours later. I was casual about it but tired, and decided on the replacement plant, of the same value. Now the first one I loved and did not want to repot it because it had bunches of berries on them. Who would want to shock a plant in that state. The replacement plant on the other hand, I picked a firmer stem and probably older plant, checked and knew it could be repotted. I then went on to locate a pot, found one after a lot of effort and washed it, and with the staff's help assembled the perlite and other potting mix I'll need. They suggested that the repotting be done at my home and I agreed, and there was a $50 charge which they would waive. I said it would not be necessary as I would happily do it myself. Over and above paying $380 for the plant, and with a few dollars credit, the new items came up to $180, and after the credit deduction, about $160-plus. I asked, isn't there going to be any discount for the inconvenience I suffered, and all the effort to patiently reorganise the replacement? It did not seem forthcoming and I felt like a beggar begging for some compassion. Seriously, after spending $432 on a single plant which arrived damaged, they could not even recognise their fault and my inconvenience. I understand if the potting mix was nett (one item had a promo 10%), but at least there should be some discount on the vintage pot, as a gesture of goodwill and token of appreciation for my continued patronage. I was really upset and told them: why would I want to look at the plant everyday and be reminded of this incident where the nursery would not even offer any gesture of goodwill. This left me with an utterly bitter taste. Now, this was with a specialty plant, and I was treated so poorly after received 'damaged goods'. Would you know what type of product and service you will receive from this business? Do they care about their service recovery effort or how customers feel about their buying experience if the joy of getting the plant has been so marred? I don't think I could bear to see the plant or even care for it after such a humiliating and bitter experience at their nursery to be made to feel like a beggar wanting some compassion.
UPDATE: Next day, 13 Aug, I spoke with their staff and they apologised and arranged to deliver the replacement plant repotted with my additional purchases, and gave me a token discount on the new items. This, after quite an exchange. But I'm delighted with the new plant and dragon pot.
There may be many nurseries in Singapore but the service here trumps. I went back to Candy thrice for help in picking a noble fir tree and big pot to fit it and Kannan was with me each time with a smile, going over and beyond. Especially the part where I couldn't find the pot in my size and colour, he spray-painted it for me!
And Rachelle, the cashier, is relentlessly helpful whether in person or on the phone. Ramu, the delivery driver, is equally helpful and kind and I managed to see him in person when he came back to the location to fix the tree for the fourth time and he did it smiling throughout!
What magic does Candy Floriculture feed their staff? Even the old Chinese uncle and auntie are sweet when I visit. I was looking specifically for 8cm baubles and they took out the measuring tape to measure the bauble for me.
I was next door at Goodwood and asking a staff who was sweeping the floor next to the baubles what dimensions theirs are in, she said "just this size. I don't know what cm" and went back to sweeping the floor.
I'm so so grateful to these kind people at Candy and will be your lifelong customer!
I’m a little surprised at the bad reviews. This place is amazing! I usually don’t write such a long review, but I need to make sure readers get a fair assessment.
1. Excellent selection: you will find more plant variety here than all the combined nurseries down Thompson road.
2. Many rare plants: I used to travel 15km just to find one particular plant. Candy Floriculture has an exquisite selection under one roof. Most importantly, they were in good condition, much better than those at Goodwood or Far East.
3. Reasonable prices: very affordable, especially when you compare them to Far East Flora, where plants go at a 30% to 50% premium.
4. Friendly and knowledgeable staff: they were patient in helping me choose the best plants, walked me to the cashier and gave me many tips on general care. The customer service was above average during my visit.
5. Cute pets: there was a really cute cat and a very well behaved dog during my visit. Cute animals made the trip extra nicer.
Will recommend to friends and family any day! Thank you.
Bought two pots of orange jasmine and a pot of Fortunella (meant to grow at my mum’s resting place, as she loved mandarin oranges). However, since it’s out of season, the one I received wasn’t the best . Lacking lustre, insufficient leaves etc. This nursery kindly allowed for a return and I exchanged the pot for another healthy pots of orange jasmine. Kindness goes a long way.. thank you, candy floriculture ❤️
